Pas leaders to blame for assault'
The assault on the Jordan Umno Club president in Amman on Friday by 14 Malaysian students was caused by Pas leaders who instilled hatred among their supporters. Umno leaders said today that Pas acting president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang should take responsibility for the assault on Amir Shahrizat Mohd Azizan at his house. The incident was said to have taken place after Malaysian students attended a political talk by Abdul Hadi at Mu'tah University in Amman.
Amir Shahrizat's father Mohd Azizan Ismail said yesterday that Pas leaders, including Abdul Hadi, should be held responsible and that the incident could have been avoided if Pas leaders had not acted provocatively during the dialogue.
Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib said the incident proved that Pas supporters were aggressive and acted emotionally to support their leaders."It shows how dangerous Pas is as it creates problems all over.

Jordanian court takes UMNO Club “President” to task--
According to UMNO Youth, they have sent a delegation to Jordan to investigate the allegation that the UMNO Club President for Jordan had been beaten up by a couple of PAS supporters.
The whole incident happened as follows:
About two weeks ago, the Acting President of PAS and Chief Minister of Terengganu, Haji Hadi Awang, visited Jordan on his way to Mekah. One of his programmes in Jordan was to meet the Malaysian students there. The Malaysian Students Department (MSD), however, instructed all Malaysian students there not to meet Hadi or else disciplinary action would be taken against them and their scholarships would be withdrawn. The students, therefore, had no choice but to “boycott” the meeting with Hadi.
The MSD then brought in the UMNO Club members to meet Hadi instead and they gave him an extremely hard time during the questions and answers session. Hadi knew he had been set up but he maintained his cool and handled all the questions well, much to the chagrin of the UMNO Club members who thought they had him cornered.
Later, the self-proclaimed UMNO Club President for Jordan circulated SMS messages slamming Hadi. This riled up a group of students who went to meet him to tell him to stop all this slander.
The so-called UMNO Club President then made a police report claiming that this group of students who went to meet him had beaten him up. The Jordanian police arrested ten of the students implicated in the “beating” and three were remanded in the police station lockup. The students were then brought to court and charged for the beating. They were represented by local Jordanian lawyers who insisted they acted for the Malaysian students pro bono.
The judge then asked the now famous self-appointed UMNO Club President whether he had visited a doctor after he had been beaten up and he replied in the negative. The judge then asked what proof he had to offer that he had been beaten up and he had none. The judge was puzzled and wanted to know why he did not get a doctor to certify or confirm the beating but the Malaysian could not offer any valid explanation.
The judge then wanted to know whether there were any witnesses to either his beating or to his injuries and, again, he had none. The judge was clearly by now quite perturbed as he realised that the UMNO Club President -- or whatever he was supposed to be -- was lying. He told the Malaysian student that he was in a Syariah Court and witnesses and/or evidence is required before one could be convicted of any crime.
The court then threw the case out.
UMNO Youth, since its visit to Jordan to “further investigate” this matter, has kept very quiet. In the beginning they were so enthusiastic about the whole thing and were going to “reveal the truth” about the beating.
Can UMNO Youth then give their version of this story? The guy was not even the President of UMNO Club Jordan in the first place. Did UMNO Youth know this?
